So I don’t usually do “Favourites Posts” but I have to admit they’re some of my favourite to read and watch on Youtube, so I thought why not try one for myself?
I think it’s been pretty clear through my blog that this summer started with me going through a bit of a slump, but I’ve really been getting back to myself for a while, and I thought why not celebrate the things that make me happy? This probably isn’t going to be a monthly thing, and hey this may not happen very often at all, but when I have an accumulation of favourites I may throw in a post like this from time to time! So, right now, these are the products that have made me smile…
*DISCLAIMER: a couple of the products (any that take you to the Amazon website) are Amazon affiliate links. The product costs you no more than it usually would, it just means that if you use my link I receive a small commission of the payment. You can choose to use them or to not, but you should definitely be informed.*
The Bodyshop Seaweed Face Toner… This is probably my favourite facial product. I’ve never really seen the point of a facial toner before but I can genuinely see/feel the difference this makes to my skin. I’ve loved this since Christmas, but recently I’ve been focusing a lot more on self-care and keeping my skin nice, and this toner really works wonders, plus it’s not too expensive! (Available here)
The Garnier Micellar Cleansing Gel Wash… I love the Garnier Micellar Water when it comes to make-up removal, I feel like quite a lot of people rave about it, but them making it a gel wash was such a game changer. The fact that it’s a face wash as opposed to something that just requires a cotton pad does mean that it’s more effort, but it leaves my face 100% clean, something that I feel is a little hit and miss with Micellar Water. (Available here)
The NYX Customiseable Palette… I’m not gonna lie, I bought this on a whim one day and immediately regretted spending my money because I didn’t technically need it… However I’m so glad I bought it, because it’s my favourite palette at the moment and the one I constantly go to. I have the 9 Shadow empty palette that NYX sell for £5 and a selection of their singular shadows (That start as cheap as £2.50 each!). The eyeshadows are some of the most pigmented that I own (I have dark skin, so if they show up really well that says something) and it’s so easy to use. I strongly recommend in investing in some of these! Some stand out shades for me are Heat (a pearly copper shade) and Betrayal (the perfect cool-toned brown transition shade for me), but they’re all really amazing and I love every colour I have.
NYX Miami Babe Lipgloss… It’s summer which means I generally wear a lot more glosses than lipsticks, and this is always my go-to gloss. Though glosses don’t really provide much of a pigmented colour, the slight colour this gives seems to really suit me, and the consistency is great, not too sticky and not too thin (I’m a snob when it comes to lipgloss consistency).
MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Global Glow… Everybody loves a good highlighter and this one is my absolute favourite. It’s a little pricey but it gives the perfect finish – not overly sparkly but a great flawless glow. I absolutely love wearing it. (Available here)
Books and TV
Doing It (book) by Hannah Witton… I said I was going to read a lot more this summer, but I’ve had literally no time and I feel so bad about it… However, one book I have finally got around to finish is ‘Doing It’ by Hannah Witton. She’s amazingly smart and witty and wrote a non-fiction book exploring sex, gender, relationships and so much more in an entertaining manner. I’m not a big fan of non-fiction but this was definitely worth the read! (Available here)
The Bold Type (TV)… I’ve only just started watching this (I mean, it only just started) but I really love it so far! It follows the lives of three friends in their 20’s, navigating their way through life whilst working in different sectors at the same Magazine. As a wannabe writer it really resonates with me, however in general it has real Sex and the City vibes, and is one of those shows that leaves you with hope and motivation. (Watch the trailer here)
The Fitbit Charge 2… I’ve had my Fitbit since Christmas, and I’ve loved it since I got it, but my strap broke and I lost my replacement one so I went a week without it and then kind of… lost my motivation. However, I’m back into it and couldn’t recommend them more! They motivate you to walk way more and generally be healthy, plus my new strap is super cute, comes in many colours and was only £8! (Find the strap here)
Bullet Journalling… My life’s been so hectic that I really haven’t had time to keep up my bullet journal, however I’m back at it again and am finding it so relaxing! I’m gonna do an update post showing how my Bullet Journal looks now in the near future, but for now check out my original bullet journal post here.
And finally, Instagram… One of my summertime success challenges was to try and up my Instagram game and I’m actually really enjoying attempting it! I’ve been posting at least 3 times a week and aiming for the true “Blogger” aesthetic and I’ve been having a lot of fun with it” There’s much more to come, so if you’re not already following, go check out my instagram here…
And there you have it, these are a few of my favourite things at the moment! They all have brought happiness to my life in some way so I figured that I’d share them with all of you… This post was pretty different for me but for the next month I want to test out quite a lot of new content, and see how that goes for me so tell me what you think, I could do with the constructive criticism!
Tell me if you’ve tried any of these or are now planning to try any of these tell me all about it I’d love to hear!
Lots of love,
