More Things I've Been Loving Recently…

Before last month I’d never done a favourites post before and here I am doing another one… I guess I really have a lot of things I love right now!
I’m really trying to develop my style at the moment, and have been paying a lot more attention to buying less clothing, but paying more attention to the quality and how much I’ll wear it.  So, I’ve made a couple big purchases (by big I mean like £40… I am a student after all) and I have to say, I’m obsessed with a few of these items…
Topshop Joni Jeans… I’m so late to this trend I know, but I tried on a pair of these for the first time and they’re now the only jeans of mine that I wear – I even went out and bought a second pair in a different colour!  They’re perfect for people like me with wide hips and thighs but a small(er) waist, and they’re the first pair of jeans I haven’t had to wear with a belt in years.  Topshop, consider me converted.  Available here
(Faux) Leather Trousers… I’ve been watching a lot of The Bold Type recently (a TV show mentioned in my last favourites post) and the character of Jane has kind of become my fashion inspiration… I saw her in a pair of leather trousers and they looked really great – formal but not too formal, like a step up from jeans but not quite suit trousers.  So I picked up a pair from Topshop (This isn’t sponsored, I promise, I hadn’t bought anything in Topshop like ever, but I’ve recently found that their trousers fit me really well), and I absolutely love them!  They’re high-waisted and have a little bit of stomach support, as well as being really warm.  Available here
Wrap Tops… There’s something surprisingly flattering about wrap tops; I don’t know what it is but I’m really enjoying wearing them at the moment.  I don’t have the flattest stomach, but I’m trying to be more confident in what I wear and wrap tops have a tendency of making my stomach look flattering regardless!  My favourite one is this one from New Look, Available here
Hoops… I used to not go near hoops because I feel like they require confidence to wear and I… Had… None… But I’ve been loving them so much!  I don’t know what it is about them but they make me feel like I have my life together and look less… gross.   My only downside is that they can be quite heavy on your ears and I don’t like to feel my earrings… However a couple of weeks ago I found the perfect pair!  They’re the perfect size for me and they feel really light!  Unfortunately though, they were from a local non-chain shop near me so I don’t have a link.
Baseball Caps… I’ve never really worn hats, apart from when my mum forces me on holidays so I don’t burn my nose, however recently I’ve been wearing baseball caps all the time.  Not only do they actually look kind of cute on me (especially with hoops… Who even am I anymore?), but they do something that I never thought possible… They stop my hair frizzing in the winter weather!  No matter what I do to my hair, whether it’s 5 different “no frizz” products, extra intense straightening, briefly tying it up, hoods, nothing has ever stopped it frizzing during long walks in winter weather other than baseball caps!  I’ll take them off at the end of a wear and find my hair just as straight as it was when I put it on!  I’ts an actual miracle and I’m very happy about it.  My current fav is one that I got for £3 on sale in Topshop, but they don’t seem to have it anymore… It’s just a basic white baseball cap though.
Hair & Makeup
The Ordinary Coverage Foundation… I did a whole review on this foundation here so I won’t go into it too much, but I use this every time I wear foundation at the moment.  It gives my skin a lovely glow whilst also being weightless and non-cakey and it’s now available on ASOS so it’s pretty accessible!  Available here
Freedom Pro Brow Pomade… I’ve been trying to step up my eyebrow game recently and this had some great reviews so I gave it a try.  I’ve gotten way more compliments on my eyebrows since I started wearing this and it was only £5 so I’m very impressed.  Available here
Hask Keratin Protein Smoothing Deep Conditioner… At the moment my hair is in the best condition it’s been in in a long time, and this definitely made a difference!  It’s an intense conditioner/mini hair mask that you coat your hair in after shampoo for 10 minutes and then wash out, and after one try I could already feel the impact.  It made my hair stay softer and lighter for longer, which, as someone who uses way more heat products than they should, is great.  They recommend using it once a week, but I use it once every 2 weeks because… well I don’t have money for that.  Available here
GIMP Photo Editing Software… I’ve had a real surge of motivation when it comes to my blog recently, and have been trying to push it even further.  As a result, I was going to invest in some better photo editing software, but I was recommended GIMP, a free software instead.  I’m still getting the hang of it but I really love it!  It reminds me a lot of Photoshop, with the main difference being that it’s completely free, so hopefully you’ll see some difference in my blog photo presentation (if you haven’t already).  Available here
UNUM Phone App… Part of stepping up my blog game includes making my Instagram feed look pretty as well, and UNUM is a great part of that.  It’s an app that loads your feed and provides extra grids above, so you can see how a photo will look on your Instagram feed before you upload it.  I don’t have a theme, (although this app would be perfect for anyone that does have a theme!), but it’s great for just seeing how much a photo will blend in with the rest of my photos, and the perfectionist in me loves it.  It’s also completely free, which is a great bonus!
Books and Random Things
‘Fully Functioning Human (Almost)’ by Melanie Murphy… I’ve mentioned in my My Food Mentality series that Melanie Murphy is a big inspiration of mine when it comes to healthy but balanced eating and she recently brought out a book!  She writes beautifully; there’s something so relateable and reassuring about her writers voice, and what I particularly enjoyed was how she gave advice, but also drew attention to her own “flaws”.  It made her advice seem more like something you’d hear from a friend, rather than from an Influencer.  I also happened to go to her Kensington book event and got to meet her (And Hannah Witton!!) which was so exciting for me, making the book even more special! Available here
DIY… By the time this post comes up I will officially be living in my new Uni flat with my friends, and my room is a lot bigger than I’m used to.  There’s something about the size that makes it feel a lot more… empty, so I’ve been working hard on DIY room decorations to make it feel more homey!  In fact, I may have a DIY post coming some time soon…
And there you have it, everything I’ve been loving recently!  I’ve had a real spark when it comes to blogging recently (post to come about that on Saturday), and a lot of these favourites have some sort of involvement with it!
Do you have any favourites right now, or like/want to try any of these?  Tell me about it in the comments!
Lots of love,
Jas xx
