It’s post Christmas, I’m really loving life, and I’m very full of happiness right now so it was about time I did another favourites post!
I don’t do them monthly because I feel like I’d end up forcing favourite products if I did, so instead I just kind of save them up and wait until I’m loving quite a few things at once… and Now was the time. There really a mix of everything so, as I tend to do with most things, I’ve broken them down into categories (I like to categorise things can you tell).
Hair & Makeup
The Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot Primer… I haven’t really been into wearing foundation at all recently, and prefer a combination of a couple of concealers for under my eyes and then a primer for the rest of my makeup (Maybe I’ll do a post on it? But probably not, I don’t do that much beauty). After a couple of recommendations, I checked out this primer and I am so glad that I did! It makes my skin look absolutely flawless – I don’t understand how, but I catch myself in the mirror wearing it and really appreciate the look of my skin – it’s so great. It cost £11 which is the higher end of drugstore pricing, but I bought mine in early September, use it almost everyday and it’s only just starting to run out, so I stand by it! Available here
The Urban Decay NAKED Heat Palette… I have been searching for the perfect warm eye shadow palette for a while now as it’s hard to find warmer, pigmented eye shadows for darker skin (Especially a whole palette full of them). So, when the NAKED Heat palette came out I was very intrigued by it, but refrained from buying it because I’m trying to only buy things that really bring me joy at the moment (post about that here). However, months later my birthday rolled around and I was still thinking about the palette a lot. I’ve been quite practical with purchases for a while now and wanted to spend my birthday money on something that actually felt like a luxury, so I bit the bullet and ordered it… It was most definitely worth it! I have used it so much since I got it, and the colours are so perfect for Autumn and Winter! It’s my go-to at the moment and has been since I bought it. Available here
MAC lipstick in ‘Paramount’… I haven’t really been that into wearing lipstick over the last few months, but with the Christmas season upon us, I’ve been attracted to the burgundy lip shades again. I bought Paramount when my mum bought me a MAC lipstick of my choice after my AS Level results, and I wore it quite a bit for a while, but recently I picked it up again and fell back in love. The first lipsticks I got into were really matte, vampy shades and honestly I looked good in dark lipsticks but they’re really not my thing anymore (too intense and too much upkeep). Paramount, on the other hand, is a bricky/browny red that isn’t too dark, with a satin finish so it blends away pretty easy so you don’t have to worry about constant upkeep. It’s relatively low maintenance, soft on the lips, and suits me well… Everything I could want in a lipstick. Available here
Urban Decay lipstick in ‘Scorched’ (From the Heat Collection)… Funny story: I bought this lipstick for myself in September (because is it even your birthday if you don’t #treatyoself a couple of times?), and it was immediately my favourite lipstick. However, not soon after I lost it, and assumed that I had left it at home because I’d been between my Bristol and London houses so much, so just decided I’d search for it at Christmas. Then, a few days ago I went to Nandos with a friend and I was rustling around in my bag for a receipt… Low and behold, the lipstick was in a hidden pocket! And this is the bag I take everywhere! My favourite lipstick has been in my bag this whole time and I haven’t been wearing it! So now I’m making up for lost time. It’s a gorgeous burnt orange/copper colour and it has a metallic hue that’s gorgeous but not over the top, I am a massive fan. Available here
Dressing Gowns… I haven’t had a dressing gown since I lost mine about three years ago, so my mum bought me a new one for Christmas and honestly I really don’t know how I survived so long without them. They are the easiest things to throw on and they make life so comfy and quick! Cold? Throw on a dressing gown. Don’t want to get your parcel from the postman in your underwear? Throw on a dressing gown. Want to solve all of life’s problems in one simple action? Throw on a dressing gown. I won’t link my specific one because it was a present and I don’t really want to know how much it was, but yes – I am now obsessed with dressing gowns again.
