I haven’t blogged much in February, and honestly I don’t have much of a reason other than I’ve been really busy and so far, February has all round been a bit of a roller coaster. There have been some great ups, and a lot of downs, but the good thing about roller coasters is that (If you’re like me) scary as they may be, you tend to look back on them only remembering the good things.
February so far, as rocky as it may have been, has been a month of newness. I’ve been opening some new doors, and closing some old ones in the process, and they’re all enabled me to grow in the process.
I started a Youtube channel… Which was an incredibly big step for me. I’ve always had this massive fear of being judged and critiqued for everything I do, and I feel like people on Youtube automatically open themselves up to this. However, I’m slowly getting over my self-consciousness; I like myself, and I’m incredibly aware that I’ll never be everyone’s cup of tea, so I’m emotionally stable enough to do this. It’s essentially just an extension of my life and documents blog events that I go to, travel and student life. So far I’m really enjoying it and learning so much about editing and am excited to be starting something new, so if you want to subscribe or leave me some love in the comments you can check it out here! (I promise, I’m trying to make it as interesting as I can… I have some cool events coming up and there will be a lot of travel content in the summer!) I upload regularly once a week.
I reawakened my love for my novel… I started writing a novel ages ago, and then, as I fell out of love with writing (post all about that here), that got lost. However, recently that passion has been reunited and I’m making amazing progress and I love being back in that world where I’m lost in my own stories and I’m able to create this world and these characters and decide how they grow and change and ahhhh I could gush about it all day but I won’t. Basically, I’m back in love with my novel and that makes me incredibly happy.
I spoke on the radio… Towards the end of January, I got a message from Hester, a girl from my University saying that she read my blog and really liked it and wondered if I’d be a guest on her radio show. It’s called ‘Odd One Out’ and it’s absolutely amazing; she talks about mental health and interviews people that have an opinion about it, and I just so happened to be one of those people. I’d never spoken on the radio before, and I was pretty nervous and excited to give it a go, and honestly it was so much fun! I loved it, and felt like I was in my element, plus I got to have an amazing chat with Hester about such an important subject. You can listen to the show as a podcast here, and there will be a video on it in a couple of weeks on my Youtube channel.
I’m going to Chicago?! This is probably the one that both shocks and excites me the most, and honestly I only found out that this was happening 3 days ago so I still can’t quite believe it! Basically, ages ago I applied for this scholarship to a Global Leadership Program taking place in Chicago in the summer, and last week I found out that I got the scholarship and I’m going! It was a massive long-shot as there really weren’t many places and I never really consider myself as anything special (post coming on that soon), but it’s happening and it’s real and it’s my first confirmed travel destination of this year and I really can’t quite believe it. I’ve never been anywhere in the USA and I’ve always wanted to and now it’s definitely happening and I absolutely cannot wait! I’ll definitely be vlogging the whole thing, as well as other holidays that should be happening so you should again, subscribe to my new Youtube channel here to stay up to date! (Yes, I will shamelessly plug this channel: I’m pretty proud of it).
My hair is behaving… Again, this is a pretty shocking one. My relationship with my hair has never really been an easy one (I might do a post on this at some point actually) and over time I’ve just come to accept it. However, over the last month I’ve actually really loved it! It’s noticeably longer than it usually is, maybe even the longest it’s ever been (I like to cut my hair a lot…) as well as probably being the healthiest it’s ever been. I don’t know whether I’m getting better at managing it or whether it generally is just being more manageable, but I’m kind of in love with it. Maybe I’ll do a post on it soon.
I’ve also had some really bad days so far this month, but based on all the good that’s been happening, it seems so redundant to give these bad moments attention. In fact, as I write about all the good, I can barely remember the things I’ve cried over or felt sad about. Life is a series of ups and downs, and so far this month, the ups have been pretty incredible.
Hope you enjoyed this ramble! Tell me about the good things going on in your life in the comments!
Lots of love,
