New Year, New Blog?

New Year, New Blog?

You did the count down, you drank the alcohol and now you’re here reading yet another blog post. It’s the New Year – 2019, and that means a whole lot of re-evaluating and the chance for a fresh start.

I’ve always been a lover of fresh starts…

Whether they’re needed or not, I’ll never turn down the opportunity for a fresh start. There’s something about the opportunity to strive for improvement and betterment that has always appealed to me, and the new year is one of the best ones. I got a brand new blogging Calendar (Which, by the way, is a DREAM. I have a whole post coming up soon), a whole new set of ideas and direction for 2019, and a renewed energy when it comes to content.

I want to take 2019 to really level up my blog content. This doesn’t mean anything wild or wacky, but I want to work on substance and style and really get to the bottom of what I’m about. I believe that I really came into my own on here in August when I went self-hosted. I want to take that even further and I’m really excited for what I have planned.

2018 really surprised me…

Having done one food review and only had mild rambles about my love for musical theatre in 2017, I really couldn’t have imagined that 2018 would become the year of food and theatre. I attend regular press nights at the Bristol Hippodrome (I already have 4 lined up from now until March), and also frequently get to visit restaurants and review their menus. Honestly, I ended up living my wildest dreams and being able to facilitate 2 of my biggest loves. I never imagined it would happen and it was all a result of my hard work, which made it even better.

This year, I hope to push these even further. Like I said, I have 4 press nights lined up, as well as a (sponsored) theatre review coming to you on Monday, so I’m already off to a good start. I want to work on how I write them, what I can do better, and push myself even further. Food wise, I want better photography as well as writing skills.

There will also be new things…

Like I said, new year means fresh starts, and this involves some brand new content and ideas. I already introduced my fitness series in December, and that will (Hopefully) have a strong presence on my blog this year. I also want to test more things and discuss issues that get to me. I want to get back to the root of my blog… but better.

I’m slowly investing more money into my blog, which I think makes sense now that I’m making money from it. 2019 should come with better photo editing software (I actually bought a subscription to something?), better photos in general (I’m learning and experimenting), and even better videos (Did someone say microphone?). I’m really excited to craft my “skill” and hopefully that will reflect in the content I put out there.

I love my blog so much. I love what it’s brought me, the friends I wouldn’t have otherwise made, and the creative outlet that it provides to me. I want to push things further and be the best version of me that I can be on here. I have no idea how this year is going to go, but I’m hoping for good things.

What are your plans for the new year?  Let me know in the comments!

Lots of love,

Jas xx

Sounds like you’ve got some exciting things lined up for this year! I can’t wait to read the blog posts that come with them: especially the theatre reviews because I do love a good trip to the theatre. I have little plans for 2019 but throwing myself into uni and my blog which will be wonderful! X

I love that you’re investing back into it to make your content even better. I love your blog so I can’t wait to see what’s coming. I hate the whole fresh start thing, it makes me think about what was left to achieve the previous year. Really hoping for a shift in that mindset soon x

Great post! Looking forward to seeing all your new content and the changes you make. I’m looking at changing my blog too from the content to the design and maybe going self hosted depending on prices. I also want to improve my photos so I’ll be spending a little money possibly for a camera. 2019 will involve putting a little money towards my blog and I’m excited to see where it goes.

Another person who appreciates a new year and the feeling of a proper fresh start. Starting something on like 2nd December or a new month just isn’t the same as starting in a new year.

I’m reading so many bloggers goals for 2019 regarding changing up their content and I’m HERE for it! I think we’ve all found our niche and we’re coming into our own.

Here’s to 2019 *insert champagne glasses emoji*

Great post lovely! It sounds like you’ve got an exciting start to 2019 – I’m hoping to up my blog game too this year, but lazy little old me still has to write her blogging goals for this year. I’m going to start small and hopefully grow these throughout the year.

    Happy new year! ♥︎

Those 4 press nights you have lined up sound awesome! I’m a big fan of the theatre too (I even used to attend youth theatre in my younger years) so this sounds brilliant. It’s great that you’ve found your niche but that you’re also open to expanding and growing your blog too in 2019 – best of luck!
