You did the count down, you drank the alcohol and now you’re here reading yet another blog post. It’s the New Year – 2019, and that means a whole lot of re-evaluating and the chance for a fresh start.
Whether they’re needed or not, I’ll never turn down the opportunity for a fresh start. There’s something about the opportunity to strive for improvement and betterment that has always appealed to me, and the new year is one of the best ones. I got a brand new blogging Calendar (Which, by the way, is a DREAM. I have a whole post coming up soon), a whole new set of ideas and direction for 2019, and a renewed energy when it comes to content.
I want to take 2019 to really level up my blog content. This doesn’t mean anything wild or wacky, but I want to work on substance and style and really get to the bottom of what I’m about. I believe that I really came into my own on here in August when I went self-hosted. I want to take that even further and I’m really excited for what I have planned.
Having done one food review and only had mild rambles about my love for musical theatre in 2017, I really couldn’t have imagined that 2018 would become the year of food and theatre. I attend regular press nights at the Bristol Hippodrome (I already have 4 lined up from now until March), and also frequently get to visit restaurants and review their menus. Honestly, I ended up living my wildest dreams and being able to facilitate 2 of my biggest loves. I never imagined it would happen and it was all a result of my hard work, which made it even better.
This year, I hope to push these even further. Like I said, I have 4 press nights lined up, as well as a (sponsored) theatre review coming to you on Monday, so I’m already off to a good start. I want to work on how I write them, what I can do better, and push myself even further. Food wise, I want better photography as well as writing skills.
Like I said, new year means fresh starts, and this involves some brand new content and ideas. I already introduced my fitness series in December, and that will (Hopefully) have a strong presence on my blog this year. I also want to test more things and discuss issues that get to me. I want to get back to the root of my blog… but better.
I’m slowly investing more money into my blog, which I think makes sense now that I’m making money from it. 2019 should come with better photo editing software (I actually bought a subscription to something?), better photos in general (I’m learning and experimenting), and even better videos (Did someone say microphone?). I’m really excited to craft my “skill” and hopefully that will reflect in the content I put out there.
I love my blog so much. I love what it’s brought me, the friends I wouldn’t have otherwise made, and the creative outlet that it provides to me. I want to push things further and be the best version of me that I can be on here. I have no idea how this year is going to go, but I’m hoping for good things.
What are your plans for the new year? Let me know in the comments!
Lots of love,
Hey, I'm Jasmine Burke. A girl in her twenties fresh out of Uni that's trying to write in any way that she can. I go under the branch of "lifestyle" but honestly, you can find pretty much anything on here.
