I’m back! I’d ask you if you missed me, but honestly, I doubt you noticed I was gone… The truth is, even when I’m “not around” I post far more than I should. However, the point is that I’ve finished Uni, I’m back for good, and things are about to change around here…
For the first time since starting this blog, I don’t have to balance it with Uni. For the near future at least, I can pump the majority of my brain power and “study energy” into this, one of my biggest passion projects. I have been planning content for months in-between revision breaks and dissertation procrastination, and as a result, I’m coming back with a vengeance.
I don’t know if you noticed, but I have a new look! While in my final term of Uni, the whole Pipdig scandal occurred and everyone appeared to jump ship. However, as I explained in an earlier post, I was too busy, it wasn’t a top priority and I wasn’t going to change anything until I had time for proper research. Now that my exams are over and I’ve had a breather, I was able to purchase and customise a theme that worked for me.
After reading an amazing blog post by Charlotte Nicole, listing a bunch of themes and sorting them into different budget categories, I decided on a Kotryna Bass theme. They offered free installation, so that part was great. Customising it definitely wasn’t as easy as customising a Pipdig theme is, but they were so lovely, responded to my shedload of questions ASAP, and now I’m beyond content with the final look. The theme itself isn’t all too different from my last one because I know what I like and I go with that, but it’s definitely levelled up.
My last theme was colourful, but I wanted the colours to pop more this time. So, cue the fancier feature images, the new featured categories feed at the top of my landing page, and other small things that make me a lot more content. I’m also trying harder with my photography and really sinking my teeth into trying new things. I’m excited to show all that off.
Though I consider myself a “lifestyle blog”, I cannot deny that I have based a large part of my site identity around being a student. Now, for the first time in 16 years, I am not that girl. So, I’ve had a long hard think about what my blog is about. With this site, I’ll still be me, but you’ll see whole stronger version of me.
There are some new series’ coming up that I’m super excited about, as well as a return of some old ones. The next few weeks are going to set up a lot of future content, so you’ll get a real taste of what I have plans. As well as this, I also have a new “adulting” section on my blog, exploring being 18+ without student bubble to fall back on. And, there’s a whole lot about to happen on my Youtube channel. Check it out if you like theatre or me…
I’ve also had a long hard think about my Instagram account. I’d love to treat it like a mini-snapshot of my blog, but I also liked how natural and unplanned my stories were. So, now I have a bunch of fancy highlights on my profile where you’ll find the professional looking, fancier stories with theatre reviews, restaurant tips, PR unboxings and more. However, I still plan to go on there and have a good old natter when I feel like it. I’ve got some cool things coming up Instagram-wise, so it would be cool if you checked out my account.
Although, I suppose a more accurate term would be an old me. In all honesty, I had factors in my life (pretty much since I started my blog until March this year) that had turned me into such a shell of myself. But those factors are gone for good, I feel more like myself than ever, and I’m excited to really get into that. Especially during such a transformative part of my life. So, I guess we really have change happening all around.
I don’t want to jinx it, but this may be the best stuff to come out of my blog yet. For the next few months, I have a chance to put my all into this. Hopefully, that will reflect in my work. I respect everyone that reads this, and I’m excited for everyone that sticks around for the journey. So stay tuned and get ready… There’s a lot more where this comes from.
What’s been going on with you for the last couple of months? Let me know in the comments!
Lots of love,
Hey, I'm Jasmine Burke. A girl in her twenties fresh out of Uni that's trying to write in any way that she can. I go under the branch of "lifestyle" but honestly, you can find pretty much anything on here.
Sorry. No data so far.
